Song: Mercury Man
Beginning a continuous flow of song releases...
In 2003, I recorded and released a 3 CD box set featuring 15 original songs, 15 instrumentals, and 15 cover songs. This was the infamous and ludicrous SBBS (Steve Ball Box Set).
As an experiment, and to prepare for the sequential release of ~250 Tiny Orchestral Moments songs over the next N years (N = between 1and 3), I’m testing templates, workflow and processes to streamline and prime the release pipeline.
This song (written originally for the League of Crafty Guitarists in 1990) was never recorded or performed by the LCG, but it has evolved over the years in multiple forms and formats since it’s full of catchy + geeky guitar hooks.
This orchestration is one of my favorites featuring my Seattle Guitar Circle bandmate, Chris Gibson on stunt guitar. In the middle of the song, we’re trading electric solos.
Mine are the slow, boring ones. His are the 🔥⚡💥versions.
Quick note on the title: Mercury is a poison. And it may also imply ability to appear shiny and fluid. A mercury man may appear shiny on the outside, but, for your own safety, please don’t get any on you.
Why this, why now? While fine tuning the TOM production and release process, I’m also working on updating my ridiculous back catalog including SBBS availability to make it easier to find and buy.
For now, thank you for listening, and I hope you’ll find some inspiration and motivation to go practice after hearing this quick orchestration from 2003.
